Former Bullhead City mayor, Diane Vick's husband, Thomas Vick, Sr. and one of her dogs, died as Thomas tried to break up a fight after the six family dogs battled with each other in their La Paloma Drive, Bullhead City, Ariz. home according to Tuesday's azcentral.com.
According to the Bullhead City Police Department, Diane Vick is expected to leave the hospital within the next few days after suffering dog bites.
A fight between the family's 40 pound boxer and a smaller cocker spaniel began on Saturday evening. As Thomas tried to intervene to break up the fight, the other four dogs became involved. The boxer, named Dempsey then attacked Thomas.
Thomas Vick, Sr. died Sunday evening as a result of dog bites and reported respiratory problems. The cocker spaniel also died.
The dogs are now being held in quarantine and will all be euthanized at the request of the family.
Thomas Vick, Sr. was a very popular social studies teacher at Mohave High School. A Facebook memorial page has messages from many of his former students. One former student wrote:
"My thoughts and prayers goes out to the Vick Family. Mr.Vick was a good man and one of the best teachers I had at Mohave. you will be truly Missed."
