The Greiners have been homeschooling for five years in anticipation of their 50 state tour of the U.S. with hopes of raising organ donor awareness. Their children are excited about the trip and their son looks forward to visiting all of the battlefields he has been studying (MomLogic March 23). Sheri Greiner knew it would be too difficult to begin homeschooling simultaneously with taking a cross-country trip, so she opted to begin early.
Sheri’s husband, Mike, had a kidney-and-pancreas transplant over six years ago. When the family looked at the number of people waiting on the transplant list—106, 495 as of March 2010—they knew they had to do something to raise awareness. They will be using their own funds for this trip as they take a year-long journey of media stops and exploration while continuing to school the kids.
Each state registers donors differently, but you can easily register at http://donateLife.bestplacesintheusa.com
