Parents who have been downsized or have had other changes in their lives that reduced their income since the beginning of the school year do not have to wait until the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year to reapply for reduced or free school lunches for their children.

According to the letter the Cecil County Public Schools Food and Nutrition Department sent home with each child at the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year, parents can reapply anytime throughout the year. Reasons to reapply include:

  • You have been blessed with a new family member.
  • Your or a spouse have had a  change in employment or pay.
  • You have started receiving help from the Food Supplement Program or the Temporary Cash Assistance program.

Parents who need an application so they can reapply for free or reduced lunches for their school age children can contact their children's schools, their county department of education, or the Maryland Department of Education for assistance.
