Oct. 15 is a national day of remembrance for families who have suffered the loss of a baby.
Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center’s Women and Infants Services department will remember the lives of newborns and children who have died in the community with its sixth annual memorial service from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 15 in the Reflection Garden at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center, 14502 W. Meeker Blvd. in Sun City West.
The hour-long ceremony is open to anyone who wishes to honor the memory of a child they have lost or a child they have known who has passed away.
“The ceremony is a place where parents can come together and be encircled by love and support from their friends and family,” said Tiffany Vaché, OB scheduler for the nonprofit hospital and event coordinator for the ceremony. “This is a day where the community can recognize their pain and learn how to reach out to those that are heartbroken.”
The ceremony will include poem readings, songs and a local hand bell choir. Medical center staff will be releasing butterflies and will culminate with a candle lighting ceremony.
Anyone who has ever experienced such a loss at any time during their lifetime is invited to attend. For more information, contact Tiffany Vache at 623-524-4240 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. The hospital is at 14502 W. Meeker Blvd., Sun City West.
