University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff football coach Monte Coleman is number 15 on Washington Redskin's list of the team's Greatest Players of All Time. He started head coaching UAPB football in 2007.
On Tuesday, August 26, before the UAPB Golden Lions head to Texas for their first game of the 2014-2015 football season (AUG 30 @ Texas State), Monte Coleman begins the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff's football team's schedule of weekly press conferences at the Lil Steakhouse in Pine Bluff.
For a $10 steakhouse lunch, media, alumni, and fans will review the team's weekly match ups with Coleman and two UAPB players. Athletic press conferences can be grueling, but Coleman and UAPB have committed each Tuesday of the season to press conferences at the diner for the upcoming 2014- 2015 football season.
Coleman and his team are starting off with pressure from the SWAC to place third for the season. But in all likelihood, UAPB, Coleman and the team are looking for another SWAC Championship. UAPB Golden Lions football team are the 2012 SWAC Champions. Last year didn't come without stress and heartbreak for the Golden Lions. This year the SWAC predicts UAPB will finish third in the conference behind Alabama State and Alcorn.
The UAPB football season starts in San Marcos, Texas on August 30 against Texas State. The Pine Bluff university's first home game kicks off at 6 p.m. Saturday Sept 6th at Golden Lion Stadium.

Coleman was drafted in 1979 by the Washington Redskins and his work built the most successful Washington Redskins franchise in the team's NFL history.
Coleman was drafted in 1979 from the University of Central Arkansas at Conway (UCA). He was a walk on at UCA. He played linebacker 16 years with the Washington Redskins. The Washington Redskins Super Bowl wins in 1982, 1987, and 1991 are synonymous with Coleman who finished his career with 1,006 tackles and 56.5 sacks.
Coleman's 215 games ties for second with quarterback Sammy Baugh. Darrell Green, another leader and famed Redskin name along with Coleman and Art Monk, remains the Washington Redskin player with the most games.
Monte Coleman is the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s 19th Head Football Coach. In 2012, he led the Golden Lions to the SWAC Championship for the win.
