Fame & Partners is a new brand taking the reigns of styling to a new level, based out of Sydney, Australia, the one-of-a-kind website brings a personal touch to each customer. Gorgeous evening gowns are available at reasonable costs, and while selecting your favorite gown online, you are also provided with a complimentary personal stylist to help arrange the look you find most suitable to your style. I caught up with CEO & Founder of Fame & Partners, Nyree Corby, about where the inspiration behind the name of the company came from, plans to expand, and why they decided to reach out to a Texas blogger & fashion columnist with plans of branching out in Texas – and across the US.
“Fame & Partners does event dresses; We have developed a unique trend tracking algorithm that feeds into our real-time fast fashion 2.0 supply chain, to offer the most on trend dresses to our discerning customers. We then allow our customers to make customizations to their dress, to make it uniquely theirs. Plus, free stylists are readily available on the website to complete their look,” says Corby, of the unique features offered on the Fame & Partners site. After browsing the Fame & Partners website I was quick to select the Structured Curves dress. A black evening gown that is flattering on several body types – that is also easily transitional by swapping out accessories, and shoes to completely change the look of the dress. Although I did not use a stylist on the site I did have help from Nyree to help hand select the dress that was perfect for my body, size, and shape. The dress fit perfectly, like a glove. To get several looks out of the dress I chose to accessorize the dress several ways. Perfect for getting several uses out of the gown for various events this summer. I was pleasantly surprised for the fit and quality of the gown but more so how much use I can get out of one dress. The dress definitely makes me feel like I have a unique find of good quality. “We think that every girl should feel famous when she creates a look that is unique and special to her; it’s kind of a tongue-in-cheek name in this celebrity obsessed world that is about finding your own fame and the partners, like confidence, that go with that.”
Plans of having a US presence are already underway and the feedback from the US audience & customers has already taken Fame & Partners by surprise. “We’ve experienced strong sales in Australia since startup, so we recently opened up our offering to the US, during prom season. Within 4 months our US sales are already close to exceeding Australian revenue, so we can see huge potential for expanding Fame & Partners there and into other markets, globally.” With a head office currently in Sydney plans for expansion of hosting a satellite office in the US are underway “Our head office is in Sydney, Australia. We have a satellite office in New York City and will be opening a fully functioning office there in 2014.”
The inspiration for a five year plan is definitely there, and already in the works of coming into play. “We are finalizing another round of venture funding right now that will see us expanding aggressively into the US market. We would hope to be a household name; the eponymous fashion forward event dress brand.” When I think of Fame & Partners I ultimately think of the website as Cinderella’s fairy Godmother - personally catering to you to locate the perfect dress for your body, size & shape on the website at a reasonable cost. The concept behind the company is unique and already inspiring customers and women in the fashion industry alike. “I am a girl that loves fashion and technology. The mish-mash of the two means that millions of girls are inspiring other girl, every day, with style inspiration; this is shaping a culture of girls that want an individual look – girls that are curating and creating fashion trends, not just following them. There are 4 million young women with a fashion-focused blog and yet very few fashion forward options for formal dresses. I wanted to bring the best of style options to young women around the world, for their special occasions – encouraging them to discover their own style profile and to craft a look that is unique to them. Giving them the tools and support to do so.
“My background is digital although my hobby is fashion,” adds Nyree. “I love the convergence of the two and feel inspired to leverage technology in this business to deliver a superior product and customer experience. I would love to inspire other young women to pursue a career in this area and that’s what our network, The Fame Chain is all about – inspiring, mentoring and supporting young women that want a career in fashion + tech and or blogging.” We also run an annual program called “Fashionista” where one senior student that aspires to have a career in technology can win a 2-week extensive paid learning internship with our company.” The Fame Chain, which is a wonderful platform for women aspiring for a spot on the fashion industry – especially for bloggers.
