The day before the CIGNA Falmouth Road Race, families can get involved in run related events.
Visit the Runner’s Expo, walk along part of the race course or join in a family fun run.
Runners Expo
The Runner’s Expo will be held at race headquarters at the Gus Canty Community Center 790 Main Street.
Health and fitness experts and athletic gear company exhibits will be open from 10 am – 3 pm. From 2 – 3 pm the kids, and parents too, can meet Olympians Frank Shorter, Joan Samuelson, Bill Rodgers and others.
The Falmouth Walk benefits local charities
The Falmouth Walk takes participants along part of the Falmouth Road Race course, with entry fees benefiting local Cape Cod charities. The 5K walk starts at 10 am. Registration is held at the Quarterdeck Restaurant from 5 – 7:30 pm on Friday night or before the walk on Saturday morning.
Falmouth Family Fun Run
The Falmouth Recreation Department will host a free family fun run complete with medals and t-shirts for all at Fuller Field behind the Community Center. Events include a 100-yard run on grass for the 5 and under crowd on through to 4 laps around the track for kids 12 to 14 years old. Families can sign up starting at 3 pm.
Watch Cape Cod’s elite invitational race-The Falmouth Mile
Starting at 6:15 pm The Falmouth Mile, which the public can view for free, will be run at the Falmouth High School track. All male runners in this event have broken the four-minute mile, while the women have broken 4:33.
