Websters dictionary defines the word “Satire” as:
“A way of using humor to show that someone or something is foolish, weak, bad, etc. : humor that shows the weaknesses or bad qualities of a person, government, society, etc.
: a book, movie, etc., that uses satire.”
Both Sarah Palin and President Barack Obama were included in such satire recently.
Palin was reported to have said that “Jesus celebrated Easter.”
In the same article linked above: “Obama was reported to have said the he would keep the muslim museum open at his own expense during the shutdown.”
From the article linked above:
“Sounds unbelievable, right? Well, that's because neither story is real. The Palin story was created by the satirical news site the Daily Currant and Obama story is from another satirical site, the National Report.”
Fiction is not fact, yet people are writing article or news copy and giving them to reporters who then report them as though they were facts.
Our country is plenty divided as we are living in very difficult times and fiction being presented as fact by news sources who should know better is just sad.
Both articles are satirical reports made about Sarah Palin and President Obama, by known reporters of political satire, yet they sure caused the right and left's juices to flow up to flood stage.
In closing.....Reporters of the news read copy/stories that are provided to them by news writers.
That said.... Reporters of the news would do a lot better if the writers of these stories would remember that the job of any good writer is to research the subject thoroughly, so as not to confuse supposition or personal theories on any given subject with the “actual facts” at hand.
