'Fallout 4' teaser site confirmed as hoax

In what may be a response to Bethesda denying its validity, the owner of the popular teaser site thesurvivor2299.com, rumored by many to be a countdown to a "Fallout 4" reveal, has come out and admitted that it was all a hoax.

For the past three weeks, the website, taking the form of an alternate reality game, has been providing visitors various Morse codes and cryptic messages detailing a story involving an unknown survivor of Vault 119 near the Institute, the "Fallout" version of MIT. The site claimed to be registered to ZeniMax Media, the parent company for the game's expected publisher, Bethesda Softworks.

At about 10 PM EST on December 6, the website changed from a counter and Morse code to a video of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up," a common video used to troll unsuspecting users. The text on the website changed from "Please Stand By" to "That's all Tunnel Snakes," and the owner proceeded to thank the community on Reddit.com for being amazing during the entirety of the website's run.

The counter would have reached its end on December 11, 2013, but it seems that right now "Fallout 4" will not be announced in the near future.
