"Falling Skies" season 3 doesn't yet have a premiere date, but new information is beginning to come out about what to expect this summer. On Tuesday, Feb. 26, TNT released a new featurette showing the writers and producers going over the unanswered questions from season 2 with a glimpse at what's to come in season 3.
The unanswered questions going into "Falling Skies" season 3 include the overlord's plan, evil Hal (Drew Roy) with that eye bug, Anne's (Moon Bloodgood) pregnancy, and the new alien, and answers are coming. In case you forgot, the 2nd Mass learned that the aliens had a weapon pointing up and then that new alien showed up. So what's going on there? In the featurette, Heather Regnier teases, "The overlords are fighting a war with someone else in the universe. Whatever enemy that gun is pointed at informs what our war is with the overlords," while Remi Aubuchon poses the question, "Maybe this isn't about us. Maybe this is about something else that's going on. Is something worse coming?" (The answer to that is probably yes since this is "Falling Skies" and things always seem to get worse—just look at how season 2 ended.)
Then there's the matter of Hal. How will that bug affect him? How long will it take for someone to realize what's going on since no one is going to know about it? The season 2 finale also revealed that Anne's pregnant, and Regnier points out that since Karen (Jessy Schram) could sense it, "that certainly implies that it's not your ordinary pregnancy." They may have found that bug on Tom (Noah Wyle) when he returned to them at the beginning of season 2, but for all they know, something else happened to him while he was with the aliens that could in some way affect Anne's pregnancy. Finally, there's the matter of the new alien. What does this new alien want? Is this just something else for the 2nd Mass to fight? Will humanity end up stuck in the middle of a war between them and the overlords?
Finally, the new video, which you can check out here, features new footage teasing what to expect in season 3, including Tom on a horse and bleeding in another clip, Maggie (Sarah Carter) and Hal aiming their guns at something (but can Hal be trusted with a gun with that bug?), Maggie fighting off a creature we only see the back of, an explosion, and of course, the 2nd Mass still fighting and still resisting.
