Fall is a terrific time for the frugal traveler. You are looking at low-season pricing in many areas and “shoulder season” (in-between high travel and low travel phases) for others. This means you can get great package deals for hundreds of dollars less than had you gone just a couple of months ago.
As Gabe Saglie (Travelzoo.com) tells BetterTV.com, it is “shoulder season” in Europe and with the Euro being slightly lower now, those flying from the U.S. can find many dollar stretching package deals even in luxury accommodations. In particular, there are phenomenal deals available in places like Spain, Italy, Ireland, and Iceland. That means the villa, wine and olive oil tour in Italy that you and your girlfriends have been dreaming about can now be a reality!
Fabulous deals are also available in the Caribbean. Of course, the savvy traveler needs to be aware that off-season in the Caribbean can also mean hurricane season. Gabe recommends adding travel insurance just in case, but points out that even with the added cost of insurance, many of the Caribbean locations are offering incredible savings.
Are you located in Southern California and not able to take quite that much time off of work as the all-important fourth quarter looms? No worries. Luxury rooms in prime locations in Las Vegas are going for under $80 a night during the week. You’ll get all the amenities of a high-roller without breaking the bank. If Vegas doesn’t strike your fancy, think about some day trips in Southern California like: Laguna Beach, Old Town Temecula, Big Bear Lake, or Balboa Island.
