Fall trail rides

As we sneak out of summer and into fall...dare we say that we will be enjoying cooler temperatures?  It will be certain that we will be enjoying the many beautiful colors of fall.  Here in Virginia we get the added benefit of the scenic mountains changing colors before our very eyes.  Many horse people truly look forward to the fall season.  Not only do we have changing leaves and cooler temperatures, but we have fresh apples for the season that our horses cannot get enough of and numerous trails to ride that WE cannot get enough of. 

Just because you might not be a horsey person or don't have your own, doesn't mean that you need to miss out on the best pleasure riding possible.  If you'd like to venture out on a trail ride and don't have your own horse, are going with a group and don't have enough horses, or you've never gone before, there are many facilities to visit that will meet your needs, whatever they are.  Here are a few to check out in various locations throughout Northern Virginia and just across the West Virginia line, as well:

Many of these stables take you trail riding at various Civil War sites, the Skyline Drive, Washington National Forest, Shenandoah National Park, and the Shenandoah Valley.  It's like having a mini vacation not too far from home!  So get out this fall and enjoy Mother Nature’s beautiful colors and bountiful apples...the horses will appreciate them anyway!  Happy trails and be safe!
