The Steamship Authority is offering free parking for Nantucket day-trippers through Oct. 13 at all Hyannis parking lots including the Hyannis Terminal, and off-site at the Lewis Bay Lot and Yarmouth Road Lot. Fall bargains on the upscale island include discounted lunches and dinners at some of Nantucket's most exclusive restaurants during Fall Restaurant Week, Sept. 27-Oct. 3, and the Nantucket Conservation Foundation’s Cranberry Festival Oct. 9.
To take advantage of the free parking offer customers need to present a free one day parking coupon, available online at www.SteamshipAuthority.com.
The Nantucket Conservation Foundation’s Cranberry Festival takes place Oct. 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Milestone Cranberry Bog. It includes bog tours, hay rides, sheep shearing demonstrations, food vendors, children's events, and, of course, the chance to sample and buy fresh berries and other cranberry products.
Fall is a great time of year to visit Nantucket; the crowds are gone and the air is cooler, though the ocean stays surprisingly warm through New England's famous Indian summer.
