The weather outside this week has been absolutely beautiful. Fall is here in Chicago and as I start in on the new semester my wardrobe is beginning to reflect my new role. I have been a professor for over a year now, but things just got major now that I am an instructor at Columbia College Chicago. Now, I am not just the fashion teacher, I have to look the part and still feel comfortable considering that I am walking around the big city.
The funny thing is, had I started teaching downtown last year, I'd be rocking my heels and high booties, but considering the fact that I have a bun in the oven - my heels are just not calling out to me lately. Rather, I've been opting for sensible flats to complete my chic preggo style outfits (just wait, they'll be making an appearance starting this October in my new Style Section).
Now, don't get me wrong - I have my moments where I still rock a wedge, but when it comes to standing and teaching a class for 3+ hours - flats just seem to be the best choice. The thing is though, that I don't want to look like a boring matronly teacher. I have to look cool. So, my go to shoes the last 2 weeks have been patterned colored flats, combat or biker boots & fun riding boots.
This past week though, I've been rocking these amazing flats from Dr. Scholl's. TheFlorenza. They are casual, but still give me a polished look. They've been a dream to walk around in and look darling with a dress, skinny jeans or leggings and a tunic. The tassel adds that special menswear style touch and the aquamarine color gives the shoes just the perfect amount of spice! These are a must have for fall. You can pick up a pair here.
What are your go-to shoes this fall? Any moms out there still rocking the heels 6 months in?
