Since fall has arrived the summer activities of yesterday are behind us. That means swimming, trips to the park, and bike rides are replaced by more indoor activities. Even though it may be getting increasingly cold outside that doesn’t mean all the fun is over. Entertaining the kiddos in the fall can be just as fun, if you have some imagination and a few good ideas.
For instance the cooler weather can prove a perfect opportunity to stay inside and have some family fun. One suggestion is to dust off those old board games that nobody has touched since the introduction of the Wii. Family game night can be lots of fun. Play for bragging rights, or place a friendly wager like the loser has to put up the game, or the winner gets to pick the next activity.
Monopoly, Sorry, The Game of Life, the possibilities are endless. It can be not only a good time, but a fantastic learning experience as well. Monopoly teaches money addition and subtraction, Life can teach about decision making and how that can affect outcomes. Use the opportunities to help your kids learn. Let them be the banker or have them read their cards aloud. So teach the kids some of your favorite childhood games, or pick out one that’s new for the whole gang, I guarantee hours of fun.
