Longing for a little more time in the summer sun, rolling ocean waves and one last trip to the beach? Then I recommend a long weekend in the Pensacola Florida/ Perdido Key area. From Atlanta, Georgia, I have made the drive in 5 and a half hours (with no traffic snafus.) Put on a little Jimmy Buffet music, grab your beach towels and drive on down... the drive is so worth it!

The warm, welcoming sea breeze will soothe your soul and the white sugar sand beaches are as gorgeous as any in Florida (and finer than some Caribbean beaches I've seen.) The people in Pensacola are friendly, the seafood is outstanding and the area has that laid-back, funky beach town feel that both relaxes and energizes you. There are water sports for the adventurous, golf, tennis and hiking for sports enthusiasts, and ample, eclectic shopping for those who are inclined to do so!  There are also historical forts and the fabulous Naval Aviation Museum. The beaches are extremely uncrowded in the fall and the weather is warm, but not blazing hot.  Here are some helpful things to know if you GO:

Lodging is drastically discounted this fall! Check out this property management company Meyer Realty for discounts as much as 50% off (Perdido Key) and Pensacola Beach deals!

The Restaurants are amazing and you can find the top rated Pensacola restaurants on this list. Highly recommended  for seafood is Captain Joey Patti's Seafood Restaurant. An off the beaten path restaurant that has awesome seafood and the lively atmosphere of a cool, Florida diner is Triggers Seafood...love their food!

If you like music, the Pensacola area has some famous (or maybe infamous) establishments that have great local singer/songwriters and bands. One of the top must-see venues for rock, country, and country-rock is  Florabama Lounge on the Florida/Alabama line. People watching and 'crowd participation' at this entertaining honky tonk are really a blast.!  Also recommended for music are many on Pensacola Beach . Watch for these awesome and crowd-pleasing local bands: Jason Justice and the Hung Jury and Sam Glass Band.
