As the weather continues to turn cold, women are transitioning from pastel hues and lightweight cottons to earthy tones and cozy knits. But just as you transition your wardrobe, your makeup must adapt as well. Looking for advice on the hottest colors of the season, we called upon on of our favorite makeup experts, Fawn Monique for Aveda.
What new hues are on-trend for autumn?
Colors that are hot for the fall winter season are rustic heirloom hues. They add a pop of color to the eyes, and stand out with any look. Reach for the deep blue Viridian Eye Shadow, warm green Bronze Patina Eye Shadow, rusted orange Ginger Root Eye Shadow (which resembles the fall leaves), or deep purple Dusk Orchid Eye Shadow. If you’re not used to bolder eye colors, opt for softer but equally rich shades like a soft lilac, hyacinth or vintage gold.
How do you take these new fall colors day to night?Day to night is as easy as taking your look from natural to dramatic.
I always recommended having a deep shadow such as Viridian or Dusk Orchid, and a dark eyeliner such as Black Orchid or Wild Indigo in your makeup bag. If your natural look is created by using a light toned shadow, add in the liner for a defining effect and pop a little of the deeper shadow onto your lids. It’s an easy and quick way to bump your look from natural to intense.
