This is without a doubt my favorite time of year, especially in Michigan. We are fortunate enough to get distinct weather for all four seasons. Autumn leaves and that crisp air smell put most people in a great mood and the cool nights are made for snuggling. Here are some fabulous fall date night ideas in the Detroit, MI area.
Strolling around an orchard gives you and your date time to talk, laugh and has enough to do that if the conversation stalls you have activities to do. Grab your dates hand and enjoy a hayride, pick some apples and of course enjoy some cider and donuts.
We have several great orchards to choose from, but my personal favorite as of late is the Plymouth Apple Orchard. They aren't as commercialized or as expensive as other apple orchards. They have lots of free activities such as a petting zoo, and photo cut outs in lots of fun shapes. Check their webpage for details.
Scaring the snot out of your date might not seem like a great idea, but provided your date has a sense of adventure you will love this. You get to hold hands in the dark first off. Second, when it's over you will laugh and have a lot to talk about. You can even make this a group date. There are so many haunted houses to choose from. You can check out this guide http://www.michiganhauntedhouses.com
Two recommendations are Erebus Haunted House in Pontiac, MI. It was in the Guinness Book of World Records as the World's Largest Walk-Through Haunted Attraction from Aug. 2005 - Sept. 2009. It's 4 stories and has some very cool effects.
Wiard's Night Terrors in Ypsilanti, MI has 6 haunted attractions on one property including a haunted hayride.
You can get some exercise and spend some time together. You can ride anywhere, but there are some fabulous parks and bike paths. You could even take alone a picnic basket or backpack. The best part of bike rides, they are FREE! Try Hines Park which shuts down on occasion for bikers and joggers.
If you don't have bikes or know where to ride you can do a Detroit bike tour. Try Wheelhouse Detroit.
Who doesn't like to eat or try new places. Don't just pick one restaurant, pick half a dozen. Pick an item you both like and search for the best in the city. Chili, Pumpkin pie, Apple Pie, Apple Cider, any item will do. Pick one and go in search of the one you like the best. You can split a cup of chili, split a piece of pie, sit close and talk the afternoon or evening away.
You can enjoy a fire pit, fireplace or bonfire. Set up more than chairs, bring out some fluffy blankets, pillows, some wine or cocktails and make it memorable. One last s'more for the year? Make gourmet s'mores by add strawberries, bananas, chocolate which nuts, or coconut marshmallows. Snuggle up, tell some jokes, and enjoy each other.
Halloween Parties and Zombie Walks
This time of year screams dress up. You can take your date to a number or city or private parties and Zombie walks are all the rage. Just do a Google search and find something fun in your area. Dress up in a couple costume like Sonny and Cher, Doctor and Nurse, Football player and Cheerleader (funnier if a male dresses as the female and a female dresses as the male).
Whatever you do this season on your Fall Date just enjoy it and swipe a fallen leaf off the ground to remember the date.
