When the hot days of summer turn into cooler weather it's time to visit the mountains. People from all over come to East Tennessee in hopes of seeing majestic fall colors.
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most heavily visited park in the country. There is one portion of the park with a drive that visitors seem to enjoy the. The Cades Cove loop is not to be missed. It can take as anwyere from two to four hours to drive the loop.

The 2011 fall color season is leaning toward the muted tones of red and gold. As of late October the colors were still developing. Winds and rain have knocked some of the leaves from the trees but there is still plenty of fall color to be seen.
Visitors who travel to Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park rarely come away disappointed. Wildlife sightings are frequent no matter what time of year it is. In the fall there are deer, wild turkey, woodpeckers and sometimes bears.
It is imperative that visitors remember that wildlife are unpredictable. Rangers may be on hand to protect bears in the event of a sighting. Deer and turkey are creatures of a more timid nature. This does not mean that they will respond well if cornered. Visitors should maintain a safe distance at all takes and take children by the hand. Feeding bears or other wildlife is prohibited.
Cades Cove has a number of historic buildings and churches for visitors to enjoy. These are all set against the backdrop of the Great Smoky Mountains. The fall color season only adds to the enjoyment.
