Mood, emotion, and personal expression are the buzzwords for this season’s colors. Los Angeles based trend and color forecasting company Design Options breaks down the mood of the season into 6 distinct palettes. These are more lifestyle categories rather than color categories with descriptive terms of “strike a pose”, “sole statement”, “balancing act”, and “luxe so good”.
Pantone, Inc. is a corporation best known for its Pantone Matching System, used primarily in the manufacture of color paints, fabrics, and plastics. Pantone is also the preeminent color forecaster for fashion colors. Pantone’s forecasts for the top 10-prominent fashion color for fall 2013 are:
Emerald, a sparkling, elegant, and cool green.
Linden Green, a light, bright yellow green accent colors.
Mykonos Blue, a bold, classic teal blue.
Acai, a dark purple that projects mystery and elegance.
Samba, a spirited, expressive, and dramatic red.
Koi, a dazzling burnt umber.
Vivacious, a deep sensual fuchsia.
Deep Lichen Green a lush green that is a good color for wardrobe basics.
Turbulence a dark mercurial grey that is an excellent alternate to black.
Carafe, a rich, dark brown.
Pantone chose emerald as the prime color for fall 2013; however there is little currently available in stores.
Fashion Snoops as reported by Color Solutions International groups this fall colors into three categories, base colors, cool colors, and warm colors. Although the names of the colors differ the colors are very similar to Pantone’s.
The colors range from bold to bright to classic. This season there is a color for every mood and lifestyle.
