Kids love visiting local pumpkin patches and corn mazes, but for many families, fall fun includes at least one apple festival. Whether you love apple orchards, arts and crafts or live music, check out these apple festivals for family fun.
It's all about the apples at Drumheller's Orchard, located in Lovingston. Drumheller's is open now through Dec. 21. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. During September and October, Drumheller's is also open Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
Drumheller's holds two apple festivals every fall. This year's dates are Sept. 28-29 and Oct. 19-20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy the pumpkin patch and corn maze as well as an apple sling shot, moon bounce, great food and live music.
There's fun at Silver Creek and Seamans' Orchards in Tyro too. The apple shed is open daily through Nov. 3. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
You'll find more than just apples at this year's Apple Butter Festivals on Oct. 5 and Oct. 19. Enjoy the pumpkin patch, corn maze, children's games, crafters, food and live music. While you're there, pick up some apple butter to take home.
Head to Morris Orchard in Monroe for pick-your-own apples or apples by the bag or bushel. Stay for the fun and enjoy the pumpkin patch, apple cider, hay bale creatures and petting zoo.
Morris Orchard is open daily through October. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. During October weekends, you'll also find apple donuts at Morris Orchard.
Gross' Orchard is located in Bedford and is open year round from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Enjoy wagon rides from noon to 5 p.m. daily at Gross' Orchard.
There's a blacksmith on site every Saturday. Mark your calendar for the 23rd Annual Apple Harvest Festival on Oct. 19 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. You'll enjoy wagon rides, arts and crafts, food vendors, bounce houses, live music and lots of apples.
Johnson's Orchards in Bedford is a fun place to visit with the family. Johnson's Orchards, located near the Peaks of Otter, is open daily from noon to 5 p.m. Although they don't host an apple orchard, kids will enjoy the Johnny Appleseed sign and the many varieties of apples.
