It’s been more than three months since the super-sized Duggar family from Arkansas last appeared on TLC's “19 kids and Counting.” Now, the Duggars set to return for the fall 2013 season premiere in a brand new episode titled “Big Changes.” TLC revealed a preview of the first two new episodes and the premiere date. Josh Duggar will be the focus when “19 Kids and Counting” debuts a new season on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
When the last season ended, Josh and Anna Duggar told the family of their plans to move to Washington, D.C. “Arkansas is home for me,” the oldest Duggar child stated during the finale. “I really have no desire to move away, but sometimes when you have opportunities, you have to go out and seek them,” he added. The family reaction was excitement tinged with a bit of sadness. “I’m so happy for them, but at the same time, it’s really sad because we’re all so close,” Jessa Duggar said.
After last season’s finale, “The Washington Post” revealed that Josh Duggar was hired as an executive director at Family Research Council, the lobbying arm of the conservative advocacy group. The group’s president, Tony Perkins, said in an interview with the Post, “It will be a culture shock coming from northwest Arkansas, but he’s a sharp kid. I think he’s going to fit in well.” Perkins and the Duggars share a history together. In 2002, Jim Bob and Perkins both ran for positions in the Louisiana state government, but both were unsuccessful. They’ve kept in touch ever since. During an interview with the “New York Daily News," Josh Duggar said of his new position, "I will be engaging the grassroots and taking the message of faith, family and freedom all across America.”
Josh has been active on Twitter lately. According to posts, he recently visited Ronald Reagan’s Ranch in California and returned home to help with a benefit for Arkansas Children’s Hospital, which was home for Josie after her premature birth. He’s been enjoying life in the nation’s capitol and even posted numerous photos on Instagram.
When “19 Kids and Counting” kicks off its new season, Josh’s big move will be the focus for at least two weeks. Below are details for the new upcoming episodes. Both air at 9 p.m. EST on TLC.
