Dirty Bird Nation can help an Atlanta Falcons player snare a prestigious award.
Falcons running back Jason Snelling is one of three finalists for the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week award. Fans may vote through noon Friday to help the Atlanta rusher best LeSean McCoy of the Philadelphia Eagles and Darren McFadden of the Oakland Raiders for the Week 2 honors.
Snelling had one of his best days as a pro, rushing for 129 yards on 24 carries and two scores in Atlanta’s 41-7 rout of the Arizona Cardinals. He also caught five passes for another 57 yards in the air and scored another touchdown.
McCoy gained 120 yards on 16 carries on the ground in Philadelphia’s 35-32 win over the Detroit Lions. He found the end zone a career-best three times.
McFadden carried the ball 30 times for 145 yards in the Raiders’ ugly 16-14 win over the lowly St. Louis Rams.
The winning candidates will have a $2,000 donation made in his name to Safe Kids USA, an organization that promotes safety improvements throughout the year, including upgrading sidewalks crosswalks and safety signs.
Jay Cutler of the Chicago Bears, Mark Sanchez of the New York Jets and former Falcons and current Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub are finalists for the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week, which is awarded to the week’s best quarterback.
