A Falcons fan stabbed at the Georgia Dome allegedly was arguing with a 49ers backer at the time of the incident Sunday. Witnesses say after the San Francisco versus Atlanta game, two NFL fans exchanged words in a parking lot when one pulled out a knife and stabbed another.
According to a Jan. 20 report from SI, after the NFC Championship game, an upset Falcons fan was stabbed by a supporter of the 49ers after blows were thrown.
Allegedly, at one point during the altercation, the Atlanta fan threw and landed a punch. Moments later, the 49ers fan is said to have pulled out a knife and used it to stab the Atlanta Falcons fan in the neck.
Police cleared out the area (shown here) and are actively investigating the matter. However, what is known is that the Georgia Dome stabbing took place during a bit of fan trash-talking.
The Falcons fan stabbed was not identified, but was taken to a nearby hospital in the Atlanta area suffering from a slit throat.
At this time, their condition is not known.
The San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens meet in Super Bowl XLVII on Feb. 3 in New Orleans.
