With the Oscars a few short hours away the anticipation of what catastrophe will inspire this year’s best fake Twitter accounts is overwhelming. A bunch of celebrities getting together to pat themselves on the back for the wonderful job they did last year not curing cancer is yet another chance to make fun of them. To celebrate, let’s look at some of last year’s success stories.
The most popular fake account was @AngiesRightLeg. The now classic pose of Angelina Jolie’s right leg bulging out of her black gown is one that only Captain Morgan would be proud of. It has more than 40,000 followers.
While presenting the award for achievement in makeup with Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez seemed to be showing off her areola. Her nipple began speaking for itself under the name @JLosNipple. Much to Jenny from the block’s chagrin it was a far less popular account with only 5,000+ followers.
One complaint heard loud and clear on Twitter about the 2012 ceremony was the audio sounded like your dial up connection. Many were waiting for the classic “you’ve got mail” to follow “and the Oscar goes it”. Celebrities and common folk alike took to Twitter to share their bitter disappointment. Soon @OscarsAudioGuy emerged to answer to their cries. Sadly not many were listening with less than 300 followers. He has already begun this year’s sound check in hopes of not repeating last year’s mistakes.
A new addition to the fake Twitter world prior to this year’s shows is @FakeOscars which began tweeting in January 2013. The rudest account by far is working his way up with only eight followers.
There is no telling what accounts will be born for tonight’s show but the possibilities are endless. A few suggestions for those eagerly awaiting the red carpet procession include David Duchovny’s pants bulge, Ben Affleck’s disappointment and Amanda Bynes calling people fat.
We can only hope for another swan dress or wardrobe malfunction to match last year’s leg and nipple but until then enjoy the best tweets from these four fake accounts.
