Fake Miss America Twitter accounts created (Photos)

Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, as Charles Caleb Colton suggested in the 19th Century, but in 2013 imitation can cause a great deal of confusion.

Several fake Twitter accounts have been created by people pretending to be Miss America 2013 Mallory Hagan, the Miss America Organization reported on Sunday.

There are only two official accounts for following Miss America. They are @MissAmerica and @MissAmericaOrg.

The reigning Miss America uses @MissAmerica to chat about what she is doing and where she is going.

Hagan is a big social media fan and, since her crowning on Saturday, has shared her experiences visiting “The View” and “Extra.”

The Miss America Organization uses @MissAmericaOrg to update fans on not only the reigning Miss America but the activities of other titleholders in the Miss America system, activities on behalf of charities and other events.

There is an additional account, @MAOTeen, used by Miss America’s Outstanding Teen program.

For more information about the teen pageant, visit its official website.
