Faith and art

I treasure notes from a former student. Here is part of his most recent:

“In November, while house setting for our daughter in Greenville, S.C., Mary and I participated in the Triune Mercy Church, a former United Methodist Church. Thirty to forty percent of the two-hundred-seventy plus worshipers were homeless. Art, not flowers, decorated the sanctuary. In each worship service, the pastor, Deborah Richardson, had one homeless person stand and describe his or her art. The homeless were ushers and communion servers. Her book Weight of Mercy, also available through Kindle, is very insightful. I spent several hours each week with her. If we lived within one-hundred miles, Triune would be our home church.”
