Faith, a dog keeping the faith she will find her forever home

Iris Lambka of Delrey Beach, Florida is no stranger to animal rescue. Several years ago she rescued a female Pit Bull off the streets and cared for her until she was lucky enough to find her a forever home. She named the dog Hope as she never gave up hope that would eventually find the perfect home.

In January of 2014 a stranger left an American Bulldog mix on Iris's front porch with a note that simply read "I know you will take good care of her." The person or persons who dropped the dog off obviously knew Iris and knew she would take good care of the dog. However, it was irresponsible on their part to shirk their own duties and dump their dog on someone else. Unfortunately this is becoming an all too common epidemic. Too many people who find they can no longer care for their dogs or just don't want to are dumping them wherever they can like garbage instead of taking the time and effort to find a new home for their pet.

Iris welcomed the new dog into her home and named her Faith. Iris recently lost her beloved senior dog named Bandit so having another dog in the house was a relief and a comfort. She fell in love with Faith wanted to keep her until the apartment complex put a stop to any such thoughts by saying no Pit Bulls or Pit Bull types. Iris was devastated and showed the management a picture of Faith to prove she is NOT a Pit Bull but an American Bulldog. Her pleas fell on deaf ears. Iris had no choice but to take her to Palm Beach County Animal Care Center. Iris is a great supporter of the shelter and knew they would do their best to help keep her safe and possibly find a home for her. Palm Beach County worked wonders for Hope, the female Pit Bull Iris had brought to them years earlier.

Faith was vetted and spayed and placed on the adoption floor but sadly there was no interest in her. Well known dog trainer Tibor Feigel of Zen K-9 NY-FL assessed Faith to determine her personality and social skills with other dogs. He declared Faith's disposition as "awesome, with great energy." Iris is hoping to find an adopter in the Central or South Florida area so she can continue to receive the help of Tibor as a trainer.

Iris continued to reach out to everyone she knew to try and get Faith into a home or even a rescue. Her good friend Ann Bridges, an animal rescuer in her own right took Faith out of the Palm Beach County Animal Care Center and placed her in a foster home in Orlando Florida. Faith did well in her new home environment. She got along with the other two dogs as well as the cats. However, when a toy was introduced, Faith became very guarded over her toy and went after the other dog. Unfortunately, Faith had to be moved out of the home into boarding at a local vet's office until another home can be found for here where she will not have to share her toys and bones with other dogs. She can live with other animals but has resource guarding issues when it comes to her toys and bones. She would also do well as an only dog.

It is breaking Ann and Iris's hearts that this sweet girl cannot find a home and is stuck in boarding. Faith deserves a chance to be someone's loving pet and companion animal. If anyone can open their heart and their home to Faith to either foster or adopt her please contact Ann as soon as possible at 239-462-3310. Both Ann and Iris would like to keep Faith in Florida. Transport can be arranged to an approved home.

Please help restore one little dog's faith in humanity. She will make an excellent, loving pet for anyone who is willing to give her a chance.
