Fairy house and garden festivals near Buffalo

Fairy gardens and fairy houses have become popular ways to participate in miniature gardening, and three events near the Buffalo area in June showcase this fun hobby.

Strong Museum – Fairy House Magic on Saturday and Sunday, June 7th and 8th at the Strong Museum of Play, One Manhattan Square in Rochester. Meet Fairy Houses author Tracy Kane, learn how to build a fairy house and dress up like a pixie while listening to the Hochstein Scholarship Flute Choir on Saturday at 1 p.m. and the Hochstein Little Singers on Sunday at 1 p.m. Hours are Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 4 p.m. – get more information at www.museumofplay.org.

Artpark – Fairy House Festival on Sunday, June 8th from noon to 5 p.m. at Artpark, Center St. in Lewiston. Annual festival in the Lower Park (use 4th St. entrance) features hands-on activities and live musical performances, as well as a fairy house tour – families, school groups, scout troops and organizations build fairy houses for display during the festival. Menne Nursery – Fairy Garden Festival on Saturday and Sunday, June 21st and 22nd from noon to 4 p.m. each day at Menne Nursery, 3100 Niagara Falls Blvd. in Amherst. The event offers creative opportunities and learning opportunities for all ages, with guest appearances by Cinderella and her Fairy Godmother, workshops and more – get a complete schedule of events for both days here.
