Chicago’s Fairmont Hotel is teaming up with the city’s Shedd Aquarium to offer an adventurous weekend getaway.
Dubbed “Get Wild at Fairmont Chicago,” the package is especially created for animal lovers. It goes beyond the usual aquarium visit to offer guests the chance to go behind the scenes at the famous aquarium.
The behind-the-scenes tour includes the animal healthcare center, where guests will learn about preventative healthcare for animals. They also will learn about animal breeding programs and all of the work that goes into running the aquarium, a major tourist destination in Chicago.
The package, beginning at a rate of $297 a night includes the behind-the-scenes tour, VIP access to the aquarium and luxury accomodations at the Fairmont, located just across the street from the city’s famed Millennium Park, another big draw for tourists, especially families with kids. There are many free programs at Millennium Park, including concerts. Kids especially like the free "Family Fun Tent," which has performances and projects for kids to work on, and the Crowne fountain, good for a free splash on any hot day.
The Fairmont donates a part of the proceeds from guests who book the package to the aquarium’s “Listen to the Lakes” conservation program. The package is good through December 30. To book, visit Fairmont.com/Chicago or call 800-526-2008.
