Boston’s historic Fairmont Copley Plaza is offering fall package deals for visitors who want to experience the city’s vibrant history, enjoy its fall colors and check out surrounding colleges. And, you don’t need a car; all of these attractions are easily reached on foot or by public transportation, the T as locals call it.

The JFK Experience Package

Along with a one night stay in one of the Fairmont Copley’s sumptuous rooms this package includes two tickets to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. The museum is hosting its new exhibit In Her Voice: Jacqueline Kennedy, The White House Years a compendium of conversations that Mrs. Kennedy had with historian Arthur Schlesinger. Visitors to the museum can also view JFK on film and videos candidly speaking about himself. Rates start at $209 per night.

For fans of presidential history and New England politics Boston is the right city for both. Along with visiting the JFK Library you can also go out to Brookline and tour his birthplace now the John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Historic Site. Or, take the Kennedy Tour, a 90-minute guided walking tour detailing the sites and places of JFK’s early political life in Boston.

To kick off the 150th anniversary of the Civil War consider a walking tour with Boston Civil War Tours. This 90-minute tour takes in sites pertaining to the Civil War; the Robert Gould Shaw Memorial to the 54th Regiment one of the first African American units allowed to fight in the Civil War, Louisa May Alcott's Beacon Hill home and Tremont Temple where Lincoln's Emancipation Proclomation was celebrated.

College Visit Package

Freedom Trail Discovery Package

Each year millions of people walk the 2.5 mile Freedom Trail that red stripe on the sidewalk that starts at the Visitors Center on the Boston Common and culminates at the Bunker Hill Monument and the USS Constitution.
