St. Patrick's Day is on its way and the leprechauns will be out with their mischief. Fairies make great companions for the leprechauns. Children are intrigued with the legend of these magical creatures, and St. Patrick's day is a fun holiday to bring in some magic to the month of March.
The Historic Spanish Point Museum in Sarasota is hosting a Fairy House Festival and Competition on March 7 and 8. Fairy houses are small creations made from natural materials such as sticks, tree bark, pine cones, and dried grasses. You can put a touch of Florida into your fairy house by using seaweed and shells. The sponsors of the competition suggest that you construct your fairy house on a base if you are going to make it at home and bring it to the competition. On the days of the festival children and families may come to the museum to construct your fairy house. Materials will be provided by the museum.
The Historic Spanish Point Museum is located at 337 N. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. You may call 941-966-5214 for more information about the Fairy House Festival and Competition. Cash prizes will be given in 3 categories.
Build your fairy house for St. Patrick's Day and they will come! Maybe a lucky leprechaun will join them.
