Fairhope Brewing and Druid City Brewing collaborate on Son of a Peacherman

Beer lovers may want to plan an early trip to the beach this weekend because Fairhope Brewing Company (914 Nichols Avenue, Fairhope) is releasing Son of a Peacherman, a limited collaboration beer with Druid City Brewing Company (Tuscaloosa), at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 11 in their taproom.

Dan Murphy of Fairhope and Bo Hicks of Druid City got together back in August to put their brewing minds together to create a collaborative brew. What they decided on was Son of a Peacherman, a dark Saison brewed with a half-gallon of peach juice. Worry not because we aren't talking about some peach juice or syrup out of a can or bottle. No, sir or ma'am. We are talking real, freshly squeezed peach juice that was laboriously sourced by Bo when he prepped and cut two baskets of ripe peaches on brew day. After five months, Son of a Peacherman is finally ready and the result is a "deliciously dark peach saison" that Fairhope describes as "one of the most complex beers we've crafted here at the brewery."

Now that I have you all salivating for what is sure to be a complex and refreshing treat, the catch is that they were only able to brew a 10 gallon batch of Son of a Peacherman. This means that this beer is so limited in quantity that you will have to make the trip to Fairhope Brewing's taproom on Saturday to try it. No one else will be tapping this beer. This is the only way. I promise. You can believe me because I am a huge fan of all things Saison, and it pains me to say that I will be forced to miss this one. Don't be like me. Go and return with stories of your journey.

In other news, I'd like to congratulate Fairhope Brewing on celebrating their one year anniversary this week. They have an official Anniversary Party set for Saturday, February 8th, so plan accordingly. I'll get you the party details as soon as I have them. Also, if you happen to be a Druid City fan that is bummed about not being able to go south for the Son of a Peacherman release, it should ease the pain a bit to hear that they are close to debuting their Fair Druid Double IPA. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for release information. Prost!
