Gerard Kennelly, 58, of Arbor Drive, was arrested on Thursday on an outstanding warrant for kicking a 22-week-old puppy across the floor where the dog hit her head so hard it caused neurological damage reported Connecticut's Fairfield Daily Voice.

In February, Shoreline Veterinarian Referral and Emergency Center notified authorities about a tragic case of a woman's young Yorkie-Poo who presented with severe head trauma. The woman told the veterinarian the injury occurred when her fiance Kennelly, was "angrily kicking the puppy across the floor."

The injuries were so severe the puppy had to be humanely euthanized.

After a necropsy of the pup and it was determined the dog died as a result of animal cruelty, a warrant was issued for Kennelly's arrest.

In November, Kennelly notified authorities his brother had stolen $2 million from him, but had no proof. At that time, authorities found an arrest warrant for Kennelly dating back to February.

Kennelly is free on $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 20.
