Fahrenheit (2417 Professor Avenue, Tremont, Ohio, 44113) is a classy restaurant that serves tasty treasures in Tremont. Chef Rocco Whalen gained fame from his food trucks and brief stint on the Food Network, but he really shines in the kitchen. Using fresh and local ingredients, he crafts a menu that changes with the seasons and features dishes that highlight the flavors of the time and locale.
The menu is varied and delicately selected to cater to all palates. The starters include dishes like seared foie gras (roasted apple and apricot chutney with toasted brioche; $14), balsamic roasted Japanese eggplant (whipped Penny Hill feta toast on a salted almond sandwich; $9), roasted red pepper hummus (mint, pita, raita and olive oil; $8), and rare roasted beef carpaccio (sliced strip steak, greens, miso vinaigrette, mango, apple syrup and horseradish; $10). He also offers a selection of pizzas from pepperoni sausage (pancetta, marinara and ricotta salata; $16) to roasted apple (pork belly, Piave cheese and cheddar chive cheese; $16). The entrees are even more exciting and difficult to choose from with options like Kobe beef short ribs (teriyaki lo-mein noodles, bitter broccoli, baby bok choy, roasted mushrooms, ginger with a soy apple glaze; $29), seared scallops (dashi broth, rice noodles, brussel sprout leaves and crisp bacon; $24.75), seared rare tuna (tomato edamame fried rice, green curry cilantro sauce and miso greens; $25), and roasted chicken fettuccini (oven dried tomatoes, kalamata olives, parsley basil butter and fresh chevre; $19).
Happy hour is Monday through Friday, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and boasts a selection of discounted drinks and dishes that highlight the larger menu offerings.
