Faces of loss

If you haven’t yet heard of the new charity Faces of Loss, Faces of Hope, you soon will.

Founded in July 2010, this non profit corporation is already growing by leaps and bounds.  The Facebook page dedicated to this site already has over 3,400 followers.

Faces of Loss, Faces of Hope is a website dedicated to providing connection and support and raising awareness about pregnancy/infant loss in general. Their belief is that the less unmentioned this subject becomes, the less women will be forced to suffer in silence.

Founded by Kristin Cook and Andrea Morton, both with their own personal history of loss, this website provides an outlet for women all over the world to share stories of loss along with pictures of themselves in the hopes that new members of the “baby loss” community will have a place to come and read hundreds of stories and see hundreds of faces similar to their own and realize that they are not alone.

Faces of Loss, Faces of Hope started a campaign after they were established titled “I Am the Face”.  Their goal was to raise $2,000 for the 2,000 women who lose babies each day by October 15th (National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day).  They easily met their goal.

“I hope that by telling the world we are not afraid to show our faces and tell our stories, barriers will be broken down. Taboos will be broken, and lines of communication will be opened.” – Kristin Cook

The “baby loss” community is one that no one should ever have to join.  If you find yourself there however, you will be met with some of the most amazing, thoughtful and kind-hearted women you have ever known.

Currently there are 24 women in the surrounding Cleveland, Ohio area who have shared their story on Faces of Loss, Faces of Hope.  Don't be afraid to be number 25.
