Facebook won’t allow 104-year-old woman to post real age

Most people who lie about their age are young, usually so they can drink or get into adult places. But if you live to be 104 and are still in control of all of your faculties, one would think you should be able to be proud of that fact, not lie about it. According to The Inquisitr on Feb. 20, however, a Michigan woman can’t state her real age on social media giant Facebook because of a glitch in their system.

Marguerite Joseph was born in 1908, making her 104 years old. Her granddaughter, Gail Marlow, wanted to set up a Facebook page for Marguerite. Although legally blind, Gail reads and replies to Facebook messages for her grandmother who enjoys the social interaction.

Much to their surprise, every time Gail attempted to input 1908 as Marguerite’s birth year, Facebook kept changing it to 1928.That would make Marguerite Joseph 85, not 104. Do the young people at Facebook think that 85 is the end of all life?

Right now, there’s nothing Marguerite or Gail can do about it as it’s a Facebook system glitch. Hopefully, it will be fixed somewhere between the next privacy rules update and the next new feature that sends users into a tizzy.
