According to sources providing information to the Chicago Sun-times, regarding the shootings which occurred on Monday, March 11, 2013 involving Jonylah Watkins and, her father Jonathan Watkins have suggested that the incident could possibly be in relation to a post placed on the popular social media platform, Facebook.
According to reports by Huffington Post Chicago, on Monday six month old Jonylah Watkins was rushed to Comer Children Hospital with five gun shots wounds to her leg, liver, lung, shoulder and bowels. She had undergone five major surgeries unfortunately it was announced, Tuesday morning six month old Jonylah Watkins had passed away. Jonathan Watkins the father was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. NBC Chicago has reported he remains in critical condition.
Gun violence, according to the Tribune has affected the family before. Jonylah’s mother, Judy Watkins suffered gun -shot wounds during her pregnancy and it has been indicated that the father could possibly be gang affiliated. . The shooting according to ABC7 News occurred in Chicago’s Woodlawn community. Area residents said “there is always somebody getting shot”. Suspects have not been announced.
