According to Monday's NBC 2 News, a Lehigh Acres, Fla., man has decided to give up his pit bull puppy after allegations of neglect went viral via Facebook.

Gilbert Rosalez has owned the 10-month-old pup since she was just weeks old, but he has decided that he will find her a new home because he can no longer handle the harassment he has been receiving from strangers and neighbors since the time that someone posted a photo of his caged puppy to Facebook.

Not long ago, on a warm day, someone snapped a photo of the young dog; the dog was outside in a wire cage. One of Rosalez's neighbors saw the photo online and said:

"You can't leave her in the screened in porch brother. It gets up to 100 degrees outside,"

Other neighbors who saw the concerning image stated that they were going come to the home to take the pup. After allegations of neglect surfaced, animal control officers with Lee County have visited Rosalez's home, but they did not find any evidence of wrong-doing; no citations were issued and the dog was not removed from Rosalez's care.

Despite that, Rosalez plans to get rid of the pup - he told NBC 2 News:

"I'm just going to give her away, because I don't know what to do. I don't know what to do,"

He added:

I don't feel like I'm doing anything wrong but they're showing up. I can't, I can't. I feel like I can't win, so id just rather give the dog away, avoid all these problems,"
