Facebook makes changes to news feed

Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg has changed aspects of the social media website’s news feed as he seeks to create the best ‘personalized newspaper’ for its millions of users.

Announcing the new design at a press briefing inside Facebook’s California headquarters on Thursday, Zuckerberg said he is aiming to push a more content-friendly version of the feed for users to enjoy. Pictures of friends are enlarged in this new design as well as content and pictures associated with shared articles on the feed. Additionally, users will see the cover pages and profile photos of their friends who like similar businesses.

"It's easy to think about it as just a single stream of content, but our goal is a lot broader," said Zuckerberg, who hopes to fend off competition from rival social applications with these latest changes to Facebook’s lead content page.

Users can also expect more sub feeds in the design as well as a large map of destinations for location check-ins. The design is available for desktop and mobile users and will allow users to see all posts from their friends as well as streams based on interests as Facebook tries to increase its stock value as they try to satisfy developers and advertisers as well.
