Facebook was introduced in 2004 by former Harvard drop out Mark Zuckerburg. Claims have been made the site was stolen from the Winklevoss brothers, but ultimately Mark still owns Facebook and portions have been paid to the Winklevoss brothers. With the birth of Facebook, millions of users have flocked to the website to sign up to connect, catch up, and relieve some stress.
Since Facebook has millions of users on the site, it is quite possible to come across a friend. A way to connect is to send that user a friend request, so you can see when he or she is online and see daily post. Messages are another good way to connect because the message will always appear in someone’s mail “box;” it is another form of e-mail. One can even send a message to someone without even being a friend, but with security options; such as, who sees ones content along with who can send messages. Facebook has users all over the world, the next step would be too find a high school friend and do some catching up.
Catching up with an old high school friend or maybe a high school sweetheart is really easy. All it takes to find a person is their name; if one has a name then the rest is “gravy.” A couple people may have the same name as the friend, so some research is required, but should be pretty simple since Facebook allows users to upload pictures. Sending a friend request or a message to the wrong John Doe may be awkward, but easy to get out of. The wrong John Doe may simply ignore the fact a message or friend request was sent to him or her. The good thing about catching up on Facebook is the fact that friend can be half way across the country, and one could be talking to them as if they meet in a local Starbucks. If things are all “Quiet on the Western Front” and it was a hard days work; hop on Facebook and play some games.
With the success of Facebook game developers have flocked to the webpage to bring the community the next best game. There are hundreds of games from solitaire to Pac-Man and everything in between. It is a good stress reliever to just be able to sit down for twenty to thirty minutes and play a game. Everyone is still a kid at heart, so show it every once and awhile. Although to the games fun, they may become addicting. Breaking the habit of gaming is fairly simple, so one should not have anything to worry about.
Facebook makes communicating so much easier since messaging are instant if a friend is online, or it will be there when they sign on. It is a one stop shop for almost everything. It combines e-mail with AOL Instant Messaging along with many other things. The ability too post stories or information to a wall to allow friends to see and maybe learn something. Sharing stories from other websites are easier than every since there is a “share to Facebook” button. If one is looking for a one stop shop for catching up and playing games then sign up and join the Facebook community.
