Facebook profile photos are turning into giraffes, and here’s the reason why: There’s a game that’s gone viral, asking the tantalizing following question – and those who get it wrong are urged to change their Facebook profiles into a giraffe.
"It's 3 a.m., the doorbell rings and you wake up. Unexpected visitors! It's your parents and they are here for breakfast. You have strawberry jam, honey, wine, bread and cheese. What is the first thing you open?"
If they get the answer correct in the private message they send to you, the asker, they can keep their beautiful Facebook profile photo the same. If not, they are urged to turn their photo into a giraffe.
The two acceptable answers to this giraffe riddle are allegedly:
Open the door – or open your eyes. (The latter would be for those who aren’t night owls, I presume.)
Anyway, this game was started by the Australian blogger from TheGreatGiraffeChallenge.com, and it’s quite amazing that the Examiner piece titled "Giraffe riddle: Why you're probably answering the Facebook riddle wrong" is up to 155,000 Facebook likes right now, and appears pretty prominently on Alexa.com’s “What’s Hot” list, in the third position as of this writing.
Ironically, it shows up after an article titled “Facebook is Doomed: Forrester Says Ads Tell a Sad Story.”
And there you go. A day in the viral and wacky world of social media.
Most people have probably gotten the Facebook riddle wrong, saying everything from “Open the wine! It’s my parents!” to any of the other choices on the list.
