Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg admits security mistakes and promises fixes

Sunday, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted to making some mistakes over privacy issues and said they are working to fix it. Zuckerberg wrote a letter to tech blogger Robert Scoble saying: "I know we've made a bunch of mistakes, but my hope at the end of this is that the service ends up in a better place and that people understand that our intentions are in the right place, and we respond to the feedback from the people we serve."

He also addressed the problems that Facebook users have with complicated and difficult to use privacy controls.

"There needs to be a simpler way to control your information," he wrote. "In the coming weeks, we will add privacy controls that are much simpler to use. We will also give you an easy way to turn off all third-party services."

Facebook users have been waiting for a response from Facebook over the negative media attention Facebook has been receiving over the past few weeks. This is the first response heard from the company even though the staff at Facebook announced a meeting over a week ago about privacy concerns on the website.

Facebook has almost 500 million users and has been the focus of repeated controversy over confusing privacy policies that lead to security glitches that have exposed users' private information.

A few weeks ago, a technical glitch allowed users to see their friends' private chats in Facebook. This was after a glitch a few months ago when Facebook users received private emails that were not for them.

Facebook is used by individuals and companies around the world. In Utah, the state senate, government and the Hoogle Zoo in Salt Lake City have their own Facebook pages.
