'Face Off': Final 5 and nowhere to hide

On Tuesday night’s episode of “Face Off”, the makeup artists were given the task of creating a robot makeup based on a profession in the future. Tyler chose surgeon, Daran photographer, Rashaad firefighter, Niko construction worker, and George hairdresser. Except for Rashaad, all the artists have been winners in previous challenges; nevertheless, Rashaad has received much praise and have been at the top often.

They all were aware that there is no room for error with only 5 remaining and the slightest mistake can end their stay in the competition. It is refreshing to see the camaraderie and above all respect that these artists have for one another, and even go as far as assisting another when it is needed and time allows.

Then it was time for the judges to see the final products and Tyler’s surgeon was futuristic and imaginative with much attention to detail. Rashaad’s firefighter was magnificent down to the detail of showing wear and tear of one who has battled many fires. Daran’s photographer, showed very little imagination and what diminished his own work even further was his claim to not being proficient in robot creation rather than just standing by his work and giving details as to what each detail meant. Niko’s construction worker missed some aspects of dimension, and George was praised for his hairdresser who looked futuristic indeed and ready to work on anyone’s hair.

Rashaad received his long overdue win and at the bottom were Daran and Niko, but Glenn Hetrick pointed out that actually only one makeup artist was on the bottom and that was Daran who was sent home.

“Face Off” runs on Tuesday at 9 p.m. EDT on SYFY.
