According to the University of Calgary Dinos website, Dinos' offensive lineman Kirby Fabien will play in the 2013 East-West Shrine Game on January 19 in Tampa, Florida.
Fabien will be joined by McMaster Maurader offensive tackle Matt Sewel as the two players who will be representing Canadian Interuniversity Sport in an announcement that was made on Thursday. The game is a great opportunity for scouts to see the best players available for the NFL Draft.
Fabien was drafted in the first round, seventh overall by the British Columbia Lions in the 2012 Canadian Football League Canadian Draft, but made the surprising decision to return to university football for another season.
The scouts will be watching Fabien and Sewel after the great success defensive tackle Akiem Hicks of the University of Regina had in last year's game. Hicks performed admirably, was selected in the third round by the New Orleans Saints in 2012 and had 20 tackles and a forced fumble in his rookie season.
Fabien will be the 11th Dino in school history to play in the game.
