Fabian Nicieza to write Red Robin

Fabian Nicieza, former writer of "Robin" and current writer of "Azrael", will be taking over writing chores from Chris Yost on "Red Robin". DC made the announcement via their Source Blog this morning.

Fabian Nicieza is no stranger to the character of Tim Drake. He finished off the "Robin" series and many fans were surprised to learn he wouldn't be continuing Tim's adventures with "Red Robin".

"I was reading Chris Yost’s first year on the series with jealous admiration in that he was doing a great job, getting to work with an excellent young artist in Marcus To and getting to move Tim through the darkness into a better place as a way of natural story evolution", Nicieza told the Source blog.

"I don't know why they didn't just do this from the beginning. Fabian's portrayal of Tim Drake was well received! Yost just used non-linear storytelling and flashbacks. The series will be much better now", expressed a fan who wishes to remain anonymous.

No word yet on what this means for the future of the "Azrael" title.

Nicieza will pick up the series with issue 13, which is due out in June. The cover is posted at the top of the article.
