F-Zero now available for download on Wii U for 30 cents: Limited time offer (Photos)

According to the Wii U Virtual Console Trial Campaign website, the next title in the campaign is now available for download. This new title is F-Zero, a racing game that originally released on the Super Nintendo in 1991 (in the United States). It will available for 30 cents from February 20th to March 21st.

F-Zero is a futuristic racing game where racers drive hovering vehicles that travel at speeds in excess of 400 kilometers per hour (approximately 250 miles per hour). The race tracks in the game have many sharp turns and other hazards, but the hovering properties of the vehicles allow for sharper turns and good control over the vehicle. This version of F-Zero has four racers to choose from, and 15 tracks to race on, which are split into three separate leagues.

F-Zero was well received and sold very well in its original Super Nintendo form. It sold well enough to spawn many sequels, most of which were sadly not released in the United States. Nintendo has also unfortunately not released a new game in the franchise in many years. Hopefully, this trial campaign will show that gamers are still interested in the franchise, and will convince Nintendo to create a new game in the franchise.
