Since the announcement of Owl City joining the Universal Records family, Adam Young, the man behind Owl City, has been on tour with Lydia across the nation and now with such hype surrounding Owl City’s debut full-length CD Ocean Eyes, it finally hits stores on July 28th.

For those who were anxious to get their hands on the new CD and couldn’t wait till the 28th, iTunes offered an exclusive digital purchase a couple a weeks ago. After only one week it was released on iTunes, it has sold almost 20,000 copies and 60,000 singles. On top of the 60,000 singles, a staggering 650,000 downloads of his first single, “Fireflies”, off the new album was resulted after being the iTunes Single of the Week. Those astounding numbers now mark Owl City at #2 of all time for most downloads of any iTunes Single of the Week.

Not only with the success of its music, Owl City also premiered its video for “Fireflies” on its MySpace and within 72 hours has gotten over 150,000 views.

Owl City now has 37 million MySpace plays, 8.5 million profile views, and over 1 million songs downloaded. No question about it that Owl City is an internet sensation. Hopefully the web-based fanfare will carry over when the physical release of Ocean Eyes hits stores July 28th.

Don’t forget to catch Owl City when he hit the roads once again for their fall headlining tour on September 9th. Be sure to check their MySpace for the full list of tour dates and for their new music video for "Fireflies". For the most up to date scoop on Owl City, follow Adam Young himself on Twitter.
