Eyelash Extensions: Are They Safe?

Who doesn’t want to look appealing? Everyone does, which is why so many people spend millions annually to beautify themselves either through treatments in the salon or surgery or any other way they find effective.
Eyelashes enhance the beauty of your eyes and face. Thick, long eyelashes are considered very feminine and beautiful. Unfortunately, some women have naturally weak and short eyelashes and some suffer from loss of eyelashes. In order to volumize in their eyelashes, women resort to surgeries, treatments or even extensions. Since eyelash extensions come cheaper than surgery so many people would prefer using them on a regular basis.

How long eyelash extension last?

Eyelash extensions cannot be applied by the self; a professional must apply them using an adhesive. The extensions are individual hairs that are applied onto your natural eyelashes. The eyelash glue and the extension are not allowed to touch your eyelid. The bond between the eyelashes and extensions allows them to remain in place until the natural eyelash falls out. However, the extensions may fall out before the natural eyelashes. This can occur if you use oil-based makeup or mascara on a regular basis. The chemicals in these cosmetics can potentially decompose the adhesive that holds the extensions in place and cause them to fall out.

Eyelash extensions, removing tips

• Use a bowl of hot water to steam your face for five minutes. This warms up glue of the eyelash extensions.
• Take olive oil in a small bowl and dip a small cotton ball in it.
• Carefully and gently rub this cotton ball over your eye for a minute. Be cautious; the oil must not get into your eyes.
• The purpose of the oil is to dissolve the glue so that the extensions can come out easily.
• Gently tug out the extensions with your fingers. Be very careful because this process may cause you to pull out your own eyelashes.

Advantages of eyelash extension

Those who have down-turned eyes which give them a tired look can apply eyelash extensions to get a younger look. Using extensions is better than having the eyelashes permed any day. Fake eyelashes means you have to take them off and put them on a lot as you cannot wear them when sleeping or in the shower. However, with eyelash extensions, you don’t have to go through the hassle of re-applying and removing them all the time. Unlike with mascara, you don’t have to worry about looking in the mirror every now and then to ensure that there are no smudges.

Disadvantages of eyelash extensions

Fake eyelashes can be applied by you, but the extensions need to be applied by a professional. These extensions will fall out along with your eyelashes (when your natural eyelashes fall out naturally, during a growth phase, or get tugged out accidentally). That means after some time, you will have to revisit the professional to get the extensions reapplied.
If glue is used excessively then it may add weight to your eyelashes. Some eyelashes may be made up of hairs that will result in an allergic reaction. Even the glue can potentially damage your eyelids or natural eyelashes.

Side Effects of Eyelash Extensions

If the glue is not medical grade then the fumes may cause irritation of your eyes and eyelids. The glue can cause your natural eyelashes to become brittle and weak. While removing the eyelash extensions, you may pull out your natural eyelashes which can injure the area and even affect the vision.

Alternative for Eyelash Extensions

Extensions, though safer than surgery, can potentially damage your eyelashes. So it is better to seek medical advice and take treatments to boost the growth of your eyelashes. In this way, you are maintaining and sustaining your natural beauty permanently. You can apply olive oil or Vaseline to your eyelashes. You can even apply different serums. Take multivitamins to provide nutrition to your eyelashes. These will help to boost the growth of your natural eyelashes so that you are naturally pretty and you don’t have to visit a professional after a while to have your fallen extensions replaced. It is always better to seek natural ways to enhance the beauty.
