The poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima) is a culturally and commercially important plant species of the diverse spurge family that is indigenous to Mexico and Central America. It is particularly well known for its red and green foliage and is widely used in Christmas displays. It derives its common English name from Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first United States Minister to Mexico, who introduced the plant into the United States in 1825.

As described in the above, this flower originated in Mexico and was introduced to the United Stated back in early 19th century.

In addition to poinsettia, amaryllis is also quite popular as a flower also offering the beautiful red color. During a Christmas season, home decorations using these flowers are quite popular. If you are planning to decorate your home with flower or plant arrangement, why not use these flowers ?

We are quite lucky to have poinsettia and amaryllis during Christmas season when the availability of fresh flowers is somewhat limited compared to other seasons although many flowers now grow in greenhouses even during the winter season. The decorations of these flowers can offer beautiful atmosphere by displaying them on the dining table or a fireplace mantel of the living room etc.

It is not always necessary to arrange these flowers to be displayed. If you don't want to spend time for make arrangement for decorations, Just go to a floral shop to buy fresh flowers in the pot and all you have to do is just display them in the place you like. Many people place them just nearby a Christmas tree so decorations of a Christmas tree looks even more beautiful.
